PRAYERS

QUORUM

Hon. Deputy Speaker

I direct that the Quorum Bell be rung for 10 minutes.

I direct that the Quorum Bell be rung for another five minutes.

Hon. Deputy Speaker

Hon. Members, I wish to bring to your attention Standing Order 34 which provides that a quorum of the House or a Committee of the whole House shall be 50 Members. If there is not a quorum present when the Chair is taken, at the time appointed for a meeting of the House, immediately after the saying of the prayer, the Speaker shall order the bell to be rung for 10 minutes. If no quorum is present at the expiration of 10 minutes, the Speaker may direct that the bell be rung for a further five minutes, which I have done. If there is still no quorum present, the Speaker shall adjourn the House forthwith to the next sitting.
